We spend a lot of our time thinking about what makes our investee companies different and what are their key competitive advantages. It is therefore only fair that we lay out the same for us as a business.

In our view, the only sustainable advantages of an investment firm over the long term are its people and culture. Creating a sustainable culture is an easy claim to make but difficult to describe.  At Hill Fort Capital, we have focussed on two things from Day 1 –

  • Bring together a group of people with very different backgrounds,
  • Build a culture which encourages spirited debates and radical honesty. Our set of five core values defined above, have been co-created by the founding team, and we try to live by those every day.

We Believe In

Being fair to all investors

We believe in the fairness of one fee. We do not discriminate by charging a higher fee for smaller investors.

Being aligned to the interests of the investors

Hill Fort takes alignment one step further. In addition to employees having a large proportion of their net worth invested in the strategy, no employee can invest independently in any Indian stock idea that is not in the Fund.

The power of diversity

Diversity in backgrounds leads to better decisions and varied viewpoints.

Being focussed

We have a single-minded focus on one approach and aim to own the best 15-20 businesses in India in our strategy. We do not intend to lose focus by having multiple strategies.
